Brad Paisley: One Man Six Strings
Brad Paisley, one of country music’s most talented and celebrated artists, returns to Encore Theater with performances in December 2024.
Since the release of his first record in 1976, John Mellencamp has been the walking embodiment of American heartland rock: passionate, plain-spoken and a self-proclaimed rebel. The unique instrumentation of Mellencamp’s band and his poignant songs about everyday life are widely credited with being the forbearer of rural-inflected music.
His deep canon of hit songs, including “Jack & Diane,” “Hurts So Good,” “R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.,” “Wild Night,” “Lonely Ol' Night,” “Small Town,” “Pink Houses” and “Cherry Bomb,” among many others, take fans back to a specific time and place in their lives.
Mellencamp was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 and is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He’s a Grammy-winner and the recipient of numerous awards including The Woody Guthrie and John Steinbeck Awards, ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award and their highest honor the Founders Award, the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting and the Billboard Century Award, other honors.
This year and next might be his busiest yet as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame opens its new permanent exhibition, Legends of Rock: John Mellencamp in September 2022. A reissue of Mellencamp's beloved eighth studio album Scarecrow is set for release November 4. And Mellencamp embarks on a new tour in winter.
